  Conference dinner with reception by Countrywide

  Conference attendees are invited to join us this evening on the Orchid Terrace for our special conference dinner. 

  We’ll get the festivities started at 6 PM with a cocktail reception sponsored by Countrywide and then, around 7 PM, we’ll invite all our guests to a sumptuous buffet.  The menu includes many favorites like mixed greens salad, marinated hearts of palm, ceviche, Jamaican jerked chicken, grilled mahi mahi, roasted pork loin, and, of course, dessert.

  HFA opening session

  Mike Byrne, Emphasys’ CEO, began today’s opening session by welcoming attendees to Miami Beach and the 2008 HFA User Conference.  He went on to thank everyone for the great conference turnout in spite of the challenging financial times and budget constraints.  Before handing over the microphone to HFA General Manager George Rodriguez, Mr. Byrne remarked that the attendance count was a positive reflection of the value clients derive from attending our conferences and of our strong partnerships with them. 

  Mr. Rodriguez kindly did not tell any jokes and instead welcomed everyone to the conference and thanked them for their ongoing support.  He went on to introduce his HFA team and outlined their substantial accomplishments during the year.  Many of these accomplishments are going to be covered in the educational and training sessions over the next few days.  Don’t miss them!

  Terrace welcome reception kicks off conference

  Tuesday evening found Emphasys conference attendees outside on the Terrace at The Alexander for our welcome reception.

  It was a bit cool by Florida standards, but the setting was wonderful: the skies were clear, you could hear surf murmuring on the beach in the distance and palm fronds rattling gently in the ocean breeze. 

  We were happy to see so many old friends and pleased to welcome some first time attendees to the Conference.  All in all it was a great start to the conference.

  Registration opens Tuesday at The Alexander

  We’re excited to welcome our HFA clients to Miami Beach and this year’s Emphasys User Conference.  Our host hotel, The Alexander, is ready for your arrival and our staff is putting the finishing touches on their presentations.

  We have three educational tracks centered on our HFA product concentrations: Single Family, Multifamily, and Financials.  Our Single Family track will be in the Orchid Ballroom 3 and will feature sessions on Prequalification, Lender Portal, and Loan Servicing just to name a few.

  The Multifamily track is being hosted in the Orchid Ballroom 1 and will include sessions on Investment Management & Control (IM&C), Funding Application, Compliance, and many others.

  You’ll find the Financial track in the Boardroom where we’ll cover topics like Swap Contracts, GL Reporting, Bank Bond, and much more.

  Besides our educational and training offerings, we will have plenty of time for attendees to network with other affordable housing professionals.  We have a welcome reception scheduled for Tuesday from 7 - 8 PM on the Orchid Terrace, breakfasts, lunches, breaks, and a Thursday cocktail reception followed by dinner.

  And you’ll be happy to hear the weather is cooperating, too.  Today saw a high of 72 degrees and Tuesday will be another sunny day with highs in the mid 70s.

  In a matter of days we will be welcoming our attendees to Miami Beach and Emphasys’ 2008 HFA User Conference.  The Alexander Hotel is ready for your arrival and we are busy putting the final touches on the event.

  Bowling and business at NAHRO conference

  Our thanks to everyone who stopped by the Emphasys booth during the recent NAHRO 2008 national conference.  San Antonio was a fun host city and the NAHRO team did a great job.

  In between visiting with old friends, meeting new ones, and showcasing our software products to attendees, we did manage to find time for bowling.  Everyone kept the Nintendo Wii game systems in our booth very busy, and we had great fun bowling a few virtual frames with all the NAHRO attendees and their guests.

  Look for us again next year at NAHRO’s national show in Washington, D.C.

  The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is set to kick off its 2008 national conference on October 26th in San Antonio, Texas.
