portraitOn behalf of Emphasys Software, I’d like to thank you all for joining us in Miami Beach for the 2009 HFA User Conference.  I appreciate the time you took out of your busy schedules to be here and the added burden of working with tight budgets.

Whether it was the demonstrations, training, or the networking, I hope your time with us was enjoyable and productive.  My wish is that you came away with lots of new information you can put to use right away.

Have a safe trip home and I look forward to welcoming you to the 2010 HFA User Conference.  Thank you for your continued support.

receptionThe reception tonight, sponsored by Bank of America, was a boisterous if breezy affair.  A “gentle” ocean breeze “wafted” through the Orchid Terrace and Mother Nature saved us the effort of blowing the froth off our beers.

Wind aside, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and, thanks to the great music mixing abilities of DJ Alfonso, needed minimal encouragement to get rowdy.

The dinner gave everyone a chance to come in out of the wind and enjoy a full buffet of local favorites like marinated hearts of palm, ceviche, Jamaican jerked chicken, and grilled mahi mahi.

Afterwards, the amplifier was turned up to eleven, and George and friends put on a fine display of salsa moves on the impromptu dance floor.

Opening-SessionYesterday in the Orchid Ballroom, George Rodriguez, General Manager for Emphasys’ HFA division, welcomed attendees to the 22nd annual HFA user conference.  He noted that it would have been the 23rd conference had it not been for Hurricane Andrew forcing a cancellation in 1992.  Mr. Rodriguez thanked everyone for joining us in Florida in spite of the challenging financial times and budget constraints.

Mr. Rodriguez then went on to discuss what the HFA division had been working on over the past year, the new products we have on the horizon, and gave an update on recent implementations.

Product enhancement was the watchword since the last conference, with many modules within the Financial, Multifamily, and Single Family suites receiving workflow updates.  Mr. Rodriguez introduced two new products, Multifamily e-Docs and the A&I Tracker, as examples of applications developed based on the feedback of our HFA business partners.

Before introducing the Emphasys team to attendees and covering the housekeeping items of the conference, Mr. Rodriguez reminded attendees that this is your conference, and that we want to continue building systems with client input.  After all, the goal everyday is to answer the question “How can we better serve you?”

welcome receptionThe 2009 HFA User Conference officially got started last night with a welcome reception on the Alexander’s Orchid Terrace. The Miami weather did not disappoint and the food, drinks and conversation were all well, well above par.

The wide-ranging conversations included discussions on ants, toes, flip-flops, pink hair extensions, barbecuing, and egg whites to name just a few.

We’ll just let you guess which of those George was talking about.
