After a steamy walk across Downtown Disney’s West Side, our attendees were rewarded with cold drinks by our gracious Planet Hollywood hosts. Under the watchful gaze of Toy Story’s Woody and in the shadow of James Dean’s Triumph motorcycle, everyone marvelled at the movie memorabilia adorning the building’s walls while infectious dance music and videos got peoples’ feet tapping. We enjoyed a sumptuous buffet fit for movie stars and then the party really got started.
Attendees, Emphasys staff, and Planet Hollywood staff hit the dance floor and shimmied, stomped, and clapped their way through numerous songs. Priceless!

To the sonorous sounds of Time by Pink Floyd, as played by the London Philharmonic, Larry Huckle opened his first Users Connect as Emphasys’ General Manager.
After some housekeeping, which included the fact that this is our largest Users Connect ever, Mr. Huckle presented several areas of focus which would help Emphasys become a stronger technology partner with clients. The areas included the Elite 1.9.2 release and Admin Suite changes; robust add-on solutions; improved communication; expanded service offerings; and implementation quality.
Mr. Huckle then highlighted four agencies for different achievement awards. The Innovator award, for a client that worked with Emphasys to implement an innovative solution to save time and money, went to Lowell Housing Authority for their OCR scanning and automation of receipting in Elite. Next, the Early Adopter award went to Michigan State Housing Development Authority for being a partner that worked with Emphasys to successfully implement a new solution in Advanced Financials and Elite General Ledger Explorer. The Vision award was presented to the Housing Authority of the City of High Point for leveraging Emphasys’ Fee Accounting Services during the implementation of Elite Admin Suite. Finally, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority received the Pioneer award for their rapid implementation of WebApp and Partner Portal.

On behalf of Emphasys Software and ENUG, I’d like to welcome you to Orlando and to Users Connect 2010. I’m pleased you and so many of your colleagues decided this is time well spent and have joined us to make this our best attended PHA educational conference to-date.
I’m looking forward to the next few days with you here at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort for what promises to be an educational, informative and “magical” conference.
I encourage you to review the agenda and make the most of Users Connect by participating in all of the great offerings: roundtable discussions, best practice presentations, software training, networking opportunities, and product demonstrations.
And, finally, don’t forget to visit the ENUG information table to learn about the advantages of joining our independent and active user group.

Hurricane Danielle took a break last night and graced us with clear but muggy weather for our welcome reception. Clients mingled by the pool and in the Hilton’s Grand Foyer, catching up with old friends and making new contacts. With more than 90 first-timers, it was a great opportunity for staff to get to know lots of new faces.
